At the Loudonville Baptist Temple, we have a different, but we believe scriptural, philosophy of youth ministry.
Our goal is not to entertain children, but rather to edify them in the faith. So much of our society is geared
toward entertainment and unfortunately many churches have adopted this philosophy in their youth programs.
They will say, “We have to do these things to attract or keep the youth in our church.” We believe this is contrary
to the Word of God and will prove to be destructive rather than constructive. Children are more capable than
they are often being given credit. They can learn the Word of God, they can memorize the Word of God,
and they can be taught the principles of the Word of God, and they can live Christ-honoring lives! They do not
need to come to church to be entertained, they can get more than enough of that in the world. They need to be
edified in the faith just as other believers.
Therefore, our youth programs are built around the principle of
discipleship/edification. On Wednesday Nights, the children are discipled in the faith and taught how to develop
their own devotional lives. This process begins at about 4 - 5 years of age and continues through high school.
We believe that principles taught in these formative years will become life-long character builders. On Sundays,
the children are taught the Word of God through its stories.
Teenagers are taught how to make faith their own and to
apply its principles to their lives.
Classroom instruction serves only as a foundation, and
children are encouraged to serve the Lord with their families in the many
ministries of the church.
